Football Players to get Paid?...
Last Tuesday, a bill proposed, that would pay Nebraska’s college football players a stipend, gained an advancement in it’s passing. The Business and Labor Committee voted unanimously to send the proposal before full legislature and Nebraska governor, Mike Johanns, has publicly agreed to support the bill. This bill, if passed, would allow Nebraska’s NCAA players to receive payment advances if three other states from the Big 12 schools pass similar laws. full story Las Vegas Bowl Allows Athletes to Enjoy Christmas Day After two years of sponsoring the Las Vegas Bowl, SEGA Sports chose not to sponsor it again this year. Organizers have also elected to change the day of the event from Christmas Day to Christmas Eve to allow fans and players holiday time with their families. full story NCAA Slaps UC Football with Probation The football program at the University of California, Berkeley, was placed on probation for five years and banned from postseason competition for one year by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
